WINTER – SPRING SCHEDULE (2009)

Unfortunately, all my weekly workshops are currently full. This happens because students currently enrolled get first choice. Then I go to my waiting list. If you would like to join that list, email and let me know.

There are other possibilities. You can form your own writing workshop and I will lead it. You can organize a writing retreat and I will lead that. Contact me if you’re interested. And/or you can join one of the following special workshops:

Mining for Gold

A 2-day reflective writing workshop Mining the unconscious for jewels of fresh material, we’ll explore memory and dreams, and work with characters and inner dialogue. Friday, March 27, 7-9 pm, Saturday, March 28, 9:30 – 3:30 pm. For more info, click here.

Paper, Scissors, Pen: Making Books that Matter

Playing with simple designs, found text, fabulous paper, we’ll write about what matters, then take ideas from our writing to create a series of simple “books” to hold our thoughts. Saturday, February 14, 1 – 5 PM. For more info, click here.

NEW OFFERINGS

Weekend Writing Retreats

I’m offering weekend writing retreats for groups interested in spending time together writing. Some groups focus on a theme, growing up Catholic, for example, or dealing with the empty nest. Others just want to get together to write about whatever comes up. Contact me if you’re part of a group that might be interested.

Writing Clubs

I also offer what I’m calling Writing Clubs for groups of friends or co-workers or co-group members, who want to meet regularly to write together. One group I’m working with consists of working mothers who take a morning off a month to spend together, responding to prompts I give–reflecting and sharing on their lives and experiences, dabbling in fiction, and doing fun writing craft exercises. Maybe you’d like to start a group—to journal together or to work on writing ideas. Be in touch.

Monthly Reflective Writing Workshop

I am teaching a monthly reflective writing workshop for interested teachers and staff of the Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools. This workshop offers teachers time to reflect and to discover their own voices on the page–and reconnect with their deeper selves. The workshop meets on Tuesday afternoons, from 4:30 – 6 and is open to anyone in the system. Drop in on months you can. No charge, no pre-registration required. Snacks, drinks, and journals provided. “It’s like going to the spa!” said Betsy Spaulding, a reading specialist at Culbreth Middle School, after the reflective writing workshop. For the monthly schedule, contact Karyn Gloden, English Language Arts Coordinator/Title I Director:
